Visual Versioning
Life is long, but when we're engaged, life passes very fast. Everything significant only happens when the sense of time is lost. Yet, our future self may misjudge the extent of the progress and growth because of how compressed the time appears.
I find that a good part of hesitation to change and grow is not because we're cowards, but because we have this fear that our future selves might take the gifts of our present self for granted.
A text-based 'change log' solves this to a great extent. An articulation of what was, and what is. So you can appreciate how the time was spent.
Visual Versioning, as I'm calling it, is the same thing. But applied to everything which was appreciated visually, and is now about to change.
Capture it in memory, the very way you liked it. And now you're free to change.
