Interactive Education
There are movies, music and books.
There are silent movies, there are music videos, and there are audio books.
And then there are games and simulations.
Games engage our skin, eyes, ears and our thinking capacity. They're the more powerful than any other media I know of.
On the other hand there is education. Almost exclusively thought of as primarily being about books.
Education is meant to prepare us for the world. And while games are probably the single most enjoyable and addictive activity kids globally engage in, school is almost always something kids are seeking holidays from.
While games make a fantasy world really exciting, education manages to make our real world boring as hell. And somehow it is an accepted idea that the unreal world is more exciting than the real one.
I'd argue we've flipped the equation upside down. I'd argue that education's primary aim should be to be interesting first and useful second.
I'd argue - games, simulation and interactivity, should be the primary form of education.
